Hi, Bergasms here.
I have been doing minecraft related things since you could still get those all snow maps, man, anyone remember those?
Once I got over my initial terror at the fact that there were skeletons and zombies and I exhausted the single player challenges
of the day (Read, had chests of gold and diamonds and shit in a giant cobblestone castle) I started looking for new challenges.
This firstly came from servers like minerapocalypse and minecraft madworld, which were worlds where you got scattered into a world
at a random location with nothing, and with chat limited to people within 50 blocks. Anything went, so pvp and banditry was rife and I learned to
hide, hunt and gear up quickly. I have also followed FLOB since about episode 30 or so, and around this time Kurt played the highlander UHC.
I really like UHC. I am a moderator and one of the longest active members over at /r/ultrahardcore. It has been over 3 years since my first game!
UHC has honed my skills in survival and getting things done quickly (tm). Through UHC I established a rapport with lorgon111 and we had numerous speed
challenge duels (e.g, be the first person to heal a zombie villager, or first person to enchant armour, first person to be invisible). This continued my love for
minecraft done quick and again helped me skill up at racing. Around this time I started doing solo UHC runs to kill the enderdragon. My best recorded one was
a 2 hour run to completion on a blind world. I also used to livestream these runs and this one time I made it to the end in 44 minutes, with UHC on and a blind world.
I believe this was a world record time for a blind world, UHC not withstanding. Of course, I left my arrows in a chest and the dragon killed me, so that sucked.
I also did the ten hearts challenge around this time. Which was to kill the dragon with UHC on and never using a crafting table. So you can only use mob dropped items and
can never heal! wow. This was a successful series for me, and I really enjoyed recording it.
Sometime after that Lorgon111 invented minecraft bingo, which is basically a timed challenge to collect all the stuff on a bingo board. You can check it out over at /r/minecraftbingo.
One of the challenges is the 25 point challenge, where you have to get as many of the 25 items on the board in 25 minutes. I frequently win this challenge, It is possibly one of my
favourite things to do in minecraft.
I met Edd and Odd through UHC, I believe, and/or through some other servers and suchlike. They played in WMC a bunch of times as well! I contributed a pvp map for their UHCcasts too!
Anyway, I have played base race twice previously and both times the recording has been lost and I have been too bummed to start again (also it feels a bit cheaty). This time I shall not fail.
Outside of minecraft, I am a 28 year old Aussie with a wife and a 22 month old Daughter named April who you will probably hear in the background of my videos if you watch them
glad to be here,
Bergasms
