I mentioned that I had a distressing incident concerning my May Super-Villain base. Here's what happened.
I had finished the build. I had filmed the tour. I had edited the tour video ready for upload.
At that moment I thought that it would be nice to use a different thumbnail, something related to the build rather than Agent Smith of The Matrix who had been my thumbnail throughout the series. Perhaps I should go and pose against some recognisable part of the build, take a snapshot in F5 3rd-person view. That sounded like a good idea.
I had logged out while I was standing on the nearby hillside in the night, watching the volcano glowing merrily. So I logged back in, and ran down to the base, dodging the various mobs who had gathered on the plateau.
I remember I got back in through the doorway, and noticed a zombie had evidently walked into one of the lava flows, as I could hear him burning. But almost immediately, my attention was attracted by something that wasn't right! Not right at all!
There was a flashing light coming through one of the corners of the wall, the wall of my Secret Room ... the room where the TNT was located! There was nothing I could do. Once primed, TNT is going to explode.
So I stayed at a safe distance and watched the action. Almost in slow-motion, I saw the first explosion rip a hole in the wall, and lava began to flow. I noticed, wincing, that the second TNT had not exploded but had been flung into the air and then exploded a bit nearer the main room, causing more destruction!
I went over to survey the damage.
I had just put so much effort into this build, and now lava was flooding in.
My first thoughts were how far the damage went. Could it have even got down to the downstairs, relaxation suite? It had, but thankfully the lava had stopped just short. The damage was minor down there.
My next thoughts were how much work would be entailed in patching the place up again? Luckily, it didn't take too long. In large part this was because I decided that the race and the build phases were both finished, so I could patch it back up in creative mode. Let's call it "Super-villain's prerogative".
As I did so, I was wondering how this could have happened. But I suppose I did have high-explosive resting against the walls of a volcano, down which was flowing vast quantities of red hot lava! Haha! As I made my repairs, I thought it would be prudent to move the TNT to a new home, 2 whole blocks further away from the heat o.O
I will learn something from this. Even super-villains need to take out a good insurance policy against bumbling henchmen, sabotage by rivals (or super-heroes!), anything but act-of-god (since I am the only god around here, right?)
